Richmond Beach road. Walked up the up the beach. Waded a river flowing into the ocean. On up the beach to the turn off point between Lashum and Wallibow . Up an old lava flow eroded to a deep cavern by water.
After we found the right spot we started up the ridge of the mountain.
Picture of part of the trail.
In four miles we climbed 3200 feet, over a narrow path, through the bush.
It was an exhausting climb that I will not make again this trip. The sight down the volcano was really neat. Really something to see "once".
At the top
The climb was not one of togetherness and fellowship. The slow ones were left behind. The walk down was even worse. Seven and ran off and left one handicapped guy behind. So I stayed with him.
Another guy stayed in sight so we would not get lost. Good thing too. On the way back we stopped at Rev. John Fenners, Chateau Belair. I took a shower in his home and talked to Mrs Ilenne Fenner. The rest went for a swim in the ocean and showered under a hose in the garden. The Fenners are headed back to England in July. Ilenne is looking forward to leaving this depressing environment.
Had soup for supper. Full of leftovers, chicken wings, potatoes, beef, dumplings, etc. Stella- the lady who takes care of us made some some soup. She got a bowl and went to sit behind us in the corner. I brought her to the table to eat with us. No one signed up to do the dishes, so Ron, Louise and I ended up cleaning up. I believe Ron went to down to Squeeze tonight.
The ladies in the group stay with families. The men all stay here at the house. I believe Allen just took them home. (No license)
Jim, Janet, and Joel just got back from Kingston. They went last night. Don't know what they got into.
The Rooster Crow or the Donkey Brays or the Worm Turns.
